Star Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing edition of The Hundred 2024 in which he was representing the Trent Rockers franchise due to an unfortunate hamstring injury. The leg-spinner suffered this injury while fielding in the last over during his side’s previous match against the Southern Brave on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, renowned for his exceptional talents both with the bat and ball, has played a pivotal role in his team’s campaign. In the five innings he participated in this season, Rashid Khan accumulated 44 runs and claimed 9 wickets, underscoring his all-around prowess.

Rashid Khan’s absence is a considerable setback for Trent Rockets, as they will sorely miss his experience and match-winning capabilities in this critical phase of the tournament.

To compensate for Rashid’s absence, Trent Rockets have brought in Australian all-rounder Chris Green as his replacement. Green is known for his effective spin bowling and valuable lower-order batting, and is expected to rise to the occasion in the upcoming matches.

Prior to his injury, Rashid had a profound impact on the tournament. In his last appearance, however, he was hit for five consecutive sixes by Southern Brave’s Kieron Pollard, which marked a turning point in the match. Despite this setback, Khan concluded his campaign with nine wickets at an average of 16.

Although the Rockets have been inconsistent this season, they remain in contention for a spot in the knockouts. Currently positioned at No. 5 on the points table with three wins and three losses from six games (NRR: 0.184), they still have a chance to advance, with only the top four teams progressing to the next stage.
