With the Super Eight stages done and dusted in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the semi-finals await us with four teams locked in. England will play India in the second knockout game, staged in the Providence Stadium, Guyana.
Ahead of this encounter, let us quickly hover through the team journey, match prediction, head-to-head, pitch stats, top players and winner prediction.
India Team Journey
The Asian Giants have been dominating the tournament so far. They topped the charts in Group A after defeating Ireland, USA and Pakistan. With seven points from four matches, they were encapsulated in Group 1 of Super Eight along with Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Australia. All the other teams faced defeats to the Men in Blue as they secured six points from three games to face Enngland in the semi-final. The only team that came close to defeating India was Pakistan, courtesy of the poor Nassau County Pitch.
England Team Journey
The Three Lions have been lucky to find themselves in the semi-final. After a rain-washed encounter against Scotland, followed by a defeat to Australia, rain scared their semi-final chances during their match against Namibia. However, a thumping victory over Oman and a ten-over battle with Namibia saw the defending champions make it through to the Super Eights. Despite losing to South Africa, a win over West Indies and USA ensured a semi-final berth for them, where they get to play India in Guyana.
Providence Stadium, Guyana Pitch Report
The conditions of Guyana tend to suit the team batting first. However, with rain predictions at the province, there could be an alteration in the conditions. Generally, the batters need to be authoritative with the bat as the bowlers get more than decent help here- be it with the new ball or the old kookaburra.

The two sides have an intensified history in the T20I competitions. The Men in Blue holds the edge with 12 wins while England have eleven wins in 23 encounters. In their last five matches, India won three while the oppositions have won their latest couple of affairs against the peninsular nation.
IND vs ENG Top Players Predictions
Jos Buttler (ENG):
The skipper of the England side have good memories of playing in the semi-final against India in a T20 World Cup. He was one of the reasons behind India’s elimination in the T20 World Cup 2022. Buttler is also back in form after smashing a blistering 38-ball 83* against the United States of America in their latest Super Eight matches.
Hardik Pandya (IND):
The all-rounder have found his form back after a rocky IPL season. Pandya have been amidst the wickets while scoring match-defining knocks with the bat in hand. He smashed a fifty against Bangladesh and played a nice cameo lower down the order against Australia recently.
Adil Rashid (ENG):
The wily wrist spinner have been phenomenal with the white rock for the Three Lions. He has regulated the middle overs phase extraordinarily as a wrist spinner in these Caribbean and American conditions.
IND vs ENG Hit or Miss Prediction
Rohit Sharma (IND): The Indian captain blew away Australia in their last game with a fierce 92 runs blitzkrieg. He seems to behold an attacking intent with the bat and the English bowlers will be under pressure early on. However, he has lacked consistency in the tournament and hence falls in this category.
IND vs ENG Conditions-based Predictions
- Team batting first have succeeded more often here in T20 WC 2024.
- The pacers get early assists with the new ball.
- The batters batting second might have a tough time unless rain intervention.
IND vs ENG Match Predictions
The conditions in Guyana are bowling friendly and hence it is expected that over 12.5 wickets will fall in the game (1.85). Also, England seems to have a formidable opening pair that’s in form. Virat kohli hasn’t been in the best form while Rohit Sharma can get shilly shally. Hence, England are likely to have a better opening stand (2.01). Since the pitch could be on slower side, the total boundaries in the game should be less than 38.5 (1.84). The Odds…
IND vs ENG Winner Predictions
There are high chances of rain in this game. In that case, India might go through the finals on the basis of finishing higher in the Super Eight stages. However, if a rain-curtailed match takes place, England should be the favourites, given the poor luck the Men in Blue have had in knockouts in the near past.
