Surrey Jaguars thumped Toronto Nationals by a massive margin of 80 runs in Global T20, opening their winning account. Batting first, the Jaguars scored 161 runs in 20 overs, with Marcus Stoinis shining with 57 off 37 balls. In response, Nationals fell like a pack of cards and were bundled out for just 81 runs in 17.1 overs, courtesy of Sunil Narine (3/3) and Marcus Stoinis (3/19), who wreaked havoc with the ball.

Narine’s Poor Batting Form Continues

The West Indian player dazzled with the bat in the 2024 Indian Premier League but has struggled with form recently, failing to reach double digits in his last nine innings. Narine’s poor run continued in this match as he was dismissed by Muhammad Rohid Khan for just two runs in the third over. The southpaw needs to get into his groove quickly in Global T20.

Toronto Nationals’ batters faltered miserably, being skittled out for a paltry 81 runs. They were unable to carry over the momentum from their previous two games and suffered their first defeat in Global T20 2024. Only four batters reached double digits, and they will need to address this issue in their next game. 

On the other hand, Surrey Jaguars’ top and middle-order batter failed to make a significant impact but Stoinis’ knock helped them post a good total on the board. Sunil Narine, Brandon McMullen, and Shreyas Movva need to contribute to contribute with the bat as the event progresses. The bowling has been top-notch for the Jaguars and they will aim to continue this performance throughout the Global T20.
