Since debuting against Sri Lanka in Colombo in February 2009, Jadeja scalped 54 wickets in 74 matches with career-best figures 3/15 against Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2021. As a lower-middle order batter, his batting average read 21.45 at a strike rate of 127.16.

His teammates, Kohli and Rohit, declared retirement from the particular format following India’s second World T20 triumph after defeating South Africa by seven wickets. The former claimed the decision during the Player of the Match interview, while the latter cleared the air during the finals press conference following the celebrations.

Jadeja followed the same path the next day, announcing his farewell from T20Is on the back of a poor campaign.
