Canada has its 1st win in the men’s game event from the experienced divers Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray, who secured a bronze medal for the nation in the men’s 10-meter synchronized diving final of Paris 2024.
Both stunning athletes showed their abilities by scoring a solid 422.13 in final. The outstanding performance was short of a gold miracle as China and Britain became gold and silver medalists, respectively.
This achievement counted as the 2nd bronze medal for Canada in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The divers also achieved a huge feat as this would mark the long awaited diving medal for Canada since 2008, where Alexandre Despatie scored a silver medal at 3m springboard final.
Despite struggling on his third and fifth jump, Nathan Zsombor-Murray showed his class on his fourth attempt, where both did an outstanding 4 somersaults and scored their best 83.25 with 3.7 degrees of difficulty.
“It doesn’t seem real; after 16 years of non-stop hard work, it’s overwhelming,” said Murray, hinting at Alexander’s win back in 2008.
On the other hand, Rylan Wiens also struggled in his fourth attempt but did a splendid job on his final dive, landing back 2 1/2 somersaults and 1 1/2 twists in the pike position, beating the Mexicans to maintain their third spot.
“I don’t tear up very often, but I started to well up before we stepped on the podium,” added Wiens after his graceful bronze win.

Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor Murray have been partners since 2021 as Vincent Riendeau left the camp injured leaving Murray, since then this dynamic pair also claimed a bronze medal in world FINA diving GP 2022.
Both were joyful at the podium and couldn’t hold their emotions as they shed tears, in the end they quoted “Synchronized diving comes easily to us, We’re both strong as individual competitors, so when we dive together, everything flows well”.
Canada saw a historic bronze medal win in Paris 2024 on Monday with the help of a duo who came a long way back, competing against each other.
On the podium of Paris 2024, Rylan Wiens expressed his relationship with his diving partner, quoting, “He was just some little kid, I was just some little kid. And from there we went through the age groups competing together and got really close the older we got”.
