Audrey Leduc sets a national record for Canada by running the 100m sprint at the Paris 2024 Olympics in an astonishing 10.95 seconds, qualifying for the semifinals. Leduc is the fastest woman in Canada by breaking her own previous all time high record of 10.96 before beating late Angela Bailey’s record in 1987 which was 10.98 seconds.

The debutante coming from Gatineau has shown her country to be worthy of having a gold medal in the Paris 2024 olympics. She came first in heat 4 of the competition, beating heavyweights such as Clayton from Jamaica and Lansiquot from Great Britain.

Despite finishing first in her heat, the Canadian was ranked as 6th highest  in the total heats, learning this she quoted to CBC Olympics “I need to talk to my coach, but I think I can go faster. Just the first time to feel the track and the crowd and everything. I think I will be more ready (semifinals) because I know what to expect.”

Road to Gold in Paris 2024

The Canadian star Leduc has to turn up and perform even bigger than the record to have a chance at the gold. She looks in top form and could end up making the nation proud at Paris 2024 by winning the 100m sprint.

Leduc will be facing Bertrand of T&T, Manasova of Czechia and Hobbs from New Zealand in her semi final heat on Saturday. Will the Laval university prospect be able to keep up the pace of her own, setting a new personal best? Canada supports Leduc on her journey to gold.
