Jeremy Gordon Traps the Big Fish

The Canadian pacer shared the new ball from the other end and removed the on-song player, Rahmanullah Gurbaz for just 4 runs on the final ball of the second over. Gurbaz is an aggressive batter and his wicket inside the powerplay was a big moment for Knights and Gordon.

Iftikhar Ahmed’s Valiant Knock

The Pakistani batter came out to bat at number five and delivered a pivotal knock. With the Bangla Tigers losing wickets at regular intervals, Iftikhar held his ground and notched up his fifty. He remained unbeaten on 50 runs off 40 balls, propelling the Bangla Tigers’ score to over 150 runs.

Wiese and Shoriful’s new Ball Brilliance

The Namibian player took the new ball for the Bangla Tigers and clean-bowled Usman Khawaja for just two runs in the opening over. Shoriful shared the new ball from the other end and trapped Munir Ahmad for a golden duck on his fifth ball. The impressive bowling from the Bangla Tigers’ new-ball bowlers exerted pressure on the Knights from the start.

Shakib’s Double Blow

The Bangla Tigers skipper bowled in the right areas and troubled the Knights’ batters. He trapped Reeza Hendricks (10 off 19) and Asif Ali (0 off 1) on consecutive balls, putting himself on a hat-trick but ultimately failing to achieve it. Shakib finished his spell with impressive figures of 3/10.

Implications and Future Prospects

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (4 off 3), Muhammad Waseem (0 off 1), Shakib Al Hasan (2 off 4), and David Wiese (1 off 3) couldn’t make an impact with the bat in this Global T20 contest and need to step up in the upcoming matches. Iftikhar Ahmed, however, looked impressive as he adapted to the tricky conditions, helping his side out of a dire situation. He will look to continue his form throughout this Global T20 event. Meanwhile, the Bangla Tigers’ bowlers were right on the money and successfully defended 152 runs.

On the other hand, the Knights’ batting lineup collapsed, resulting in their second consecutive loss. Harsh Thaker scored an unbeaten 79 runs but could have scored more briskly, as he played 67 balls and his side fell short by 22 runs. The Vancouver-based franchise will need contributions from their key players, Reeza Hendricks, Usman Khawaja, Munir Ahmad, and Asif Ali in their upcoming Global T20 matches.

Conclusion

Bangla Tigers Mississauga won their first match in this Global T20 and moved to number four in the points table. They will look to extend their winning streak in the upcoming matches.

On the other hand, Vancouver Knights have lost two matches on the trot, reeling at penultimate position on the points table. Usman Khawaja and Co. will look to take learnings from their losses and get their first win in their upcoming Global T20 match.
