The Pakistani Speedster started the proceedings with the new ball for the Falcons and provided early breakthroughs for his side. The left-arm pacer trapped both openers—Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher—for single digits, putting the Patriots in a spot of bother. The 32-year-old bowled an economical spell, grabbing three wickets and conceding only 27 runs in his four-over quota.

Louis Valiant Knock

The West Indian batter has been a consistent contributor for the Patriots in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Louis came out to bat at number six and notched up his second half-century in the 12th edition of CPL. The right-hander smashed a rapid 63 runs off just 36 balls, propelling the Patriots score to 153 runs in 20 overs.

King and Greaves’ Solid Start

In pursuit of 153 runs, Brandon King and Justin Greaves spearheaded the innings for the Falcons and provided a solid start. The opening duo scored rapidly in the powerplay and added 55 runs for the first wicket in just 4.5 overs, laying a solid foundation for the later batters. Their brisk start put the Patriots on the back foot from the outset. However, the pair failed to convert their start into a big score as King departed for 29 runs, while Greaves contributed 30 runs.

Hasaranga’s Effort in Vain

The Sri Lankan spin wizard troubled the Falcons batters with his bowling prowess and brought the Patriots back in the game. The leggie trapped Justin Grieves, Sam Billings, Jewel Andrew, and Shamar Springer in quick succession and injected life in the game. However, his Valiant effort went in vain as Imad Wasim and Fabian Allen held their nerve in the crunch situation and took the Falcons over the line.

Implications and Future Prospects

@wiplayers

After a lackluster start in the CPL 2024, the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons have won two games on the trot. King and Greaves laid a solid foundation. However, their middle-order batters didn’t perform up to the expectations and should aim to make amends in the upcoming matches. The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons-based franchise will aim to keep their impressive form in the upcoming matches and extend their winning streak.

On the other hand, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have lost five games on the trot and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. They performed well in patches but failed to deliver in the crucial moment in this contest. They need to win their remaining league-stage matches to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
