The Pakistani all-rounder came out to bat at number four and anchored the innings for the Falcons. The southpaw countered the Knight Riders bowlers with authority and scored at a brisk pace. However, the left-hander failed to notch up his well-deserved half-century as he fell just four runs short of his milestone, falling prey to Terrance Hinds in the final over of the match.

Allen’s Cameo

The West Indian batter entered the fray at number six and provided the necessary acceleration to the innings. The right-hander smashed an unbeaten 25 runs off 11 balls, propelling the Falcons’ total to 176 runs in 20 overs. Ultimately, his valuable cameo proved crucial for his side as the Falcons won by a slender margin of 6 runs in a thrilling CPL contest.

Andries Gous and Shaqkere Parris’ Partnership

In pursuit of 176 runs, the Knight Riders lost Sunil Narine for a four-ball duck in the second over of the match. However, Gous and Parris paired up in the middle and started building the partnership. The pair adopted the cautious approach and kept the scoreboard moving at a decent pace. They added 62 runs for the second wicket and laid a solid foundation for the Trinbago-based franchise. Gous contributed 39 runs off 33 balls, while Parris mustered 31 runs off 28 balls.

Kieron Pollard’s Cameo in Vain

@TKRiders

The Knight Riders skipper stepped up to bat at number six and kept his side in the hunt with a rapid 15-ball 30 runs, but he lacked support from lower-order batters and eventually fell just six runs short of the Falcons’ total.

Implications and Future Prospects

After suffering four back-to-back losses in CPL 2024, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons registered their first win in the event. The Falcons’ batters looked promising in this contest and will aim to keep the momentum going and extend their winning streak. On the other hand, the bowlers chipped in with wickets at the crucial juncture and secured victory in a last-over thriller.

Conversely, the Knight Riders’ batters faltered at the tail end of the innings, ultimately failing to cross the line. Pollard, Carty, Gous, and Parris impressed with the bat, but Pooran, Narine, and Russell, key players for the team, struggled and should aim to regain their rhythm in the upcoming games. The Trinbago-based franchise has won one and lost one out of two games and will look to return to winning ways in the next match.
