The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the home schedule for India starting September 2023. The Men in Blue will be participating in five Tests, eight T20Is and three ODIs between September and February.
The season kicks on September 19 with a Test series under the World Test Championship fixtures against Bangladesh in Chennai. Touring for the third time for a Test series in the peninsular nation, the Tigers will play their second Test from September 27 in Kanpur. The two sides are supposed to square off for three T20Is in Dharamsala, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Soon after, New Zealand will visit India for three red-ball matches in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai, starting on October 16, 21 and November 1 respectively. There are no scheduled white ball home series with the Black Caps.
However, England will be touring the Indian subcontinent for five T20Is and three ODIs after India’s participation in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The shorter format is expected to kick off on January 22 and end on February 2 with Chennai, Kolkata, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai being the venues. In addition, Nagpur, Cuttack and Ahmedabad are the designated venues for the three ODIs.
While the Test series bear more significance due to the World Test Championship, the white ball series will be a great preparation in the lead up to the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup.
